Job Summary:
This role collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver
high-quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Responsibilities include performing
nursing assessments, supporting examinations and treatments, patient education, and
maintaining accurate medical records. Registered Nurses are hired based on their years of
experience.
Responsibilities:
- The Pediatric ECMO Specialist is part of an elite clinical team trained to respond to critical care
emergencies. Specialists operate ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) machines
during life-saving procedures for pediatric patients experiencing heart or lung failure. The ECMO
team supports approximately 30 pediatric patients annually and plays a key role in providing
advanced life support in high-acuity care settings.
Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; BSN required
Licenses/Certifications:
○ Current license to practice as a professional RN in the state of Texas (or eligible
via compact license)
○ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
○ Additional certifications may be required depending on the unit or specialty
● Experience:
○ RN I: < 1 year
○ RN II: 1–3 years
○ RN III: 3–10 years
○ RN IV: 10+ years
● Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, ability to work in high-pressure clinical
situations
